Every year, the Office of the Chief Commissioner, Shillong Zone ( Customs & Central Excise) effects Inter Commissionerate transfer of officers at group B (Gazetted), group B ( Non-gazetted), group C level (Ministerial) level based on transfer policy framed by the department which often depend on administrative considerations, on the completion of tenure in a certain location of the officer concerned and on representations by the officers within the zone whose jurisdiction spread over the four Commissionerates viz. Shillong Central Excise Commisisonerate, Dibrugar Central Excise Commissionerate, Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, NER, Shillong and the Central Excise Guwahati Commissionerate.
